Gardening Jobs to do in March

March is a busy time for Gardeners getting ready for the new summer. Here are the recommend gardening jobs you need to doing this month:

Vegetables

  • Sow in open ground - Onions, Beetroot, Brussel Sprouts, Leeks, Lettuce, Radish
  • Set up a Cloche 2 weeks before sowing summer cabbages, cauliflowers and carrots under.  Warming up the soil before should provide you you with better results.

Lawns

  • Continue aeration
  • Apply spring fertiliser if weather is mild and settled
  • Begin to mow established lawns
  • Apply mosskiller if not done in late winter

Flowers

  • Dig beds for annuals
  • Feed roses

Fruits

  • Plant raspberries and strawberries
  • Prune plums and cherries
  • Feed established plants and bushes

General Maintenance

  • Look out for slugs and snails and control if needed
  • Weed regulary and also weed paved areas
